  1. I am looking for information on Nathaniel Smith & wife Phebe Fly Smith He was in Ellsworth around 1746 to 1805. They had about 11 children one of the last was my g.g.grandfather Aaron Smith. Nathaniel moved to Grand Manan Island, Ca. around 1805 & died there 1836. Aaron showed up in York Co. N.B. Ca. in 1810. I would like to put out a query for anyone who may have more info. on this family. I know the records were lost in the fire of 1935. Anything you could do would be greatly appreciated.

  4. I am a volunteer with the historical society in Durango, Colorado. About 1875 Hancock resident Charles B Joy (1840-1914) came to Durango as a blacksmith. The cabin he built still stands on the grounds of the Animas Museum. He left Durango in 1904, was in a veterans’ hospital for a year and died in 1914. He is buried in Riverside Cemetery. We are trying to find out anything about how he came to move to Durango, or about his last 10 years.

      1. Joy Cove is in Gouldsboro go down Gouldsboro Point Road
Does that have any thing to do with this man? Or his family

    1. I have him in 1910 census in Weymouth, Mass. I have him admitted to Togus (Veteran’s home), 4 Oct., 1904 and discharged at his request 21 Nov. 1904. He left a widow but I don’t have her name. He died 21 Jan, 1911 in Boston. Cause of death was chronic myocarditis.

  5. I am looking for information about Noah Murch and Mary “May” Cousins as part of my research for membership in the Mayflower Society. Are there any members who are also descendants of these two individuals?

  6. I am looking for the parents of my 4X great-grandpa, William Shaw, who was born between 1765 & 1770 in Gouldsboro and died in 1830. He was married to Dolly Moore (1774-1830). Dolly’s parents were Joel and Rebecca (Weeks). Any information on the Shaw family in Maine would be great. Thanks.

  7. I’m looking for information on my Ancestors who lived in the Sedgwick,
Maine area in the 1750 -1850s. I’m hoping to find additional sources.
    Ancestor Information
Moses Black: B: Apr 1751/53 York, Maine D: 22 Dec 1829, Sedgwick, Hancock, Maine
He served in the Revolutionary War.
    Wife #1 Lydia Reed B: 1755 York, Maine D:1829 RI M: 1779?
Wife #2 Elizabeth Freethy Black: B: Aug 1765 York, Maine. D: 27 Feb, Brooklin, Hancock, Maine.
    M. abt. 1792? I’m looking for a source to prove this.
Wife #3? Elizabeth Merrill B: 1760 Cumberland, Me D:1860 Essex, Mass or Maine? M:1782
I’m looking for a source to prove or disprove this marriage, or was Elizabeth Merrill also a Freethy?

Son Jotham Freethy Black: B: 1801, Sedgwick, Hancock, Maine. D: At Sea,
Sulawesi Tengah, Indonesia. Are there any records that support Jothan Freethy Blacks death at sea?
1). Were Moses and Elizabeth Freethy married or lived together?
I found a marriage record for Elizabeth Merrill 1782, but not for Elizabeth Freethly or were they the same person?
    2) Could Elizabeth Freethy have married a Merrill before Moses Black?
    3) Were there 2 Moses Blacks?
    4) I don’t have any birth records for Jotham Freethy Black. I need
something supporting their father son relationship.
There are also several written sources, only available in Maine, which may have information in them, but these are not digital and I live in Ohio.

“Brooksville Maine, A town in the Revolution” complied by Walter A. Snow for the
Brooksville Bicentenial Committee. It mentions Moses born in 1751/52 -1829.
He married Lydia Reed and then Elizabeth Freethy d/o Joseph and Elizabeth Banks Freethy

“History Of York Maine, Vol I”, that refers to Vol III for information about the Black family. I can’t locate “History Of York Maine, Vol lII.

  10. I am searching for records of John Blunt (b. circa 1766 d. 10 July 1816, Trenton, ME) who married Lydia Perkins 13 July 1790. They had seven children in Trenton: John, Lydia, Clarissa, Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth, and Thomas. Does anyone know where I can find these records (probably church records)?
